Cure & Fixes
- Examine the port for damage or debris: These issues can occasionally keep the port from functioning. If there is any debris that is visible, you can use a flashlight to examine the port and try using compressed air to blow it out.
- Examine the adaptor or cable: Make sure the adapter or cable you're using works with your MacBook. To determine whether the problem is with the cable, adapter, or MacBook, you can try utilizing an alternative cable or adapter.
- Restart your MacBook: Sometimes, problems with the Type-C port not working can be resolved by restarting your MacBook.
- Reset the System Management Controller (SMC): Sometimes port failures can be resolved by resetting the SMC. After turning off your MacBook, press and hold the Shift, Control, and Option keys as well as the Power button for ten seconds to reset the SMC. Then, release all of the keys and switch on your MacBook.
- Make a MacBook update: Make sure the most recent version of macOS is installed on your MacBook. By selecting Software Update under the About this Mac menu, you may check for updates.
- Reset NVRAM or PRAM: Resetting NVRAM or PRAM can occasionally resolve port malfunctions. Hold down the Command + Option + P + R keys when powering on your MacBook to reset its NVRAM. Keep your fingers on these keys until the startup sound plays twice.
